Ambient vibrations, temperature differences and reduced cycle times are all factors that make it difficult to use conventional measuring devices such as touch-sensitive roughness meters, confocal microscopes or KMG for quality assurance and inline process control. In contrast, diffuse light sensors are insensitive to the influences of the harsh production environment.

Integrated directly into the production line

The sensor system can be combined with a programmable controller. The use of additional axes even allows for scanning entire surfaces, for example on roller surfaces. By setting limits for roughness, shape or ripple, a signal can be processed in the OptoSurf software in combination with an I/O board or Profibus.

System extension is possible at any time. From permanent fixed solutions (for example, often used for centerless grinding machines) to interconnected robot cells, OptoSurf diffused light is used worldwide. To implement automation projects, OptoSurf works with experienced technology service providers. The goal is always to aim for the best possible solution.

Many possibilities of use

Quality assurance is one of the many uses for diffuse light sensors. Another possibility is to use the system for process control. The grinding cycles of grinding wheels or polishing tools can be detected with a trend detection in the OptoSurf software. It is even possible to adjust the tool according to the measured data. The method allows optimal use of the tool while benefiting from cost-saving effects in production.

Up to 100% of production parts tested, measurable directly in the harsh production environment

No need to manufacture expensive special measuring machines

Possibility of saving on production costs

Trigger signal usable for compliance analysis
