The CL-Hg low pressure mercury lamp is a source of atomic ray emission in the UV and visible regions, used for wavelength calibration and validation of monochromators and spectroradiometers.
Selected for its convenience, stability and range of available atomic lines, the CL-Hg lamp can either be mounted on the output slot of any monochromator or spectroradiometer, or implemented in a stand alone configuration.
The mercury spectrum does not contain useful lines above 579.07 nm, however shorter wavelength lines can be used to calibrate monochromators by exploiting higher lattice diffraction orders. For example, the green line 546.08 nm can be used to calibrate monochromators in the second (1092.16 nm) or third order (1638.23 nm).
