Conventional piezo-based nanocalization systems use a stack type actuator (piezoelectric actuator) for the movement of an axis. This ceramic pile is mounted between solid bending joints to translate the forces generated by the pile. If these forces are greater than the internal preload, there is a risk of damage to the battery type actuator (piezo battery).

The NanoX® design of piezosystem jena intelligently solves this problem:

One-axis movement is achieved by using two piles. While one piezo actuator moves in a certain direction, the other moves in the opposite direction and returns to its original position. The result is a higher rigidity of the whole nanopositioner (piezoelectric stage). A nano-positioning system designed in this way can withstand higher forces and the batteries are less likely to break.

piezosystem jena offers various steps using the NanoX® construction method. There are X and XY nano-positioning systems with a rigidity of up to 1.1 N/μm and a movement range of up to 900 μm. The NanoX® turntables are ideal for high-speed laser scanning, vibration control, active damping and other applications requiring highly dynamic motion.

The series with NanoX® technology, high-performance NanoX piezo positioners, is ideally suited for the highest level of precision in nano- and micro-positioning tasks. Piezo stages are ideal for high load applications. The high-performance nanopositioner NanoX 400 moves a load up to 10 kg always under dynamic conditions. These actuators use a piezo battery technology called “active bidirectional mode”. Means, two separate controlled piezo-type actuators are used in each penetrating nan. If the first piezoelectric actuator is charged by a voltage signal, the second piezoelectric actuator of the nanopositioner (piezoelectric positioner) is discharged. Using this unique technology, the high-performance nanopositioner (piezoelectric positioner) generates adjustment and reset forces. Thus, the nanostage (piezoelectric stages) can withstand high loads even under dynamic conditions.

The NanoSXY series extends the NanoX® product line with XY nanopositioners.

The NanoX series nesting (piezo positioner) is available in the standard NanoX design and in the thin-housing NanoSX version. In addition, the scanning stages of the NanoSX series nanopositioner can be mounted with other (superimposed) NanoSX stages to obtain a long-distance moving nano-motion system that can easily reach a stroke of up to 1,6 mm; without compromising the positioning accuracy of a few nanometers (nano-positioning).
